As good as the Ultimate White Pages is, it has always had few difficulties. The opening of new windows and the Javascript copying of data has never worked perfectly. When development started on a new version to address these problems, we realized that the infrastructure necessary to transfer those problems from the browsers of users to a more reliable system on the server would be cost-prohibitive. The load produced by our current traffic levels would easily overwhelm the new system we had designed. The only option would be to buy new equipment, which would easily make this a money-losing endeavour.

But we didn't want our efforts to go to waste. We have made the new version, called the Ultimates Plus, available on a paid subscription basis. The old version will always be available for use and will be supported as it always has, but the Ultimates Plus will be a more user-friendly and reliable site due to its more advanced design.

New features of the Ultimates Plus:

• No more new windows: Your computer will work faster and more reliably with the Ultimates Plus, now that switching between windows is no longer necessary.
• No more Javascript copying: The Ultimates Plus uses all server-side processing, making it much more stable and fast. Javascript has always been unreliable and slow.
• Priority support: Emailed questions from Plus users will be answered first.
• Compact version: Once you have learned how to use the page and no longer need any instructions, you can switch to the compact version, eliminating the scrolling necessary in the Ultimate White Pages.
• Cookies: The last search is optionally stored in a cookie so that the next time you use the Ultimates Plus your previous search is still there if you wish to search for someone else in the same city or state.
• User-selectable color schemes: If you dislike the current colors or want the page to load faster, you can change your version of the Ultimates Plus.
• Drop-down states: U.S. states can optionally be stored in a drop-down list so that it is no longer necessary to remember two-letter state abbreviations.
